Local authorities in 17 regions awarded IT security certifications by the LSI organization

The Regensburg district in Bavaria, Germany, has made a significant stride in digital transformation as 17 municipalities received the LSI-Siegel 3.0 certification. This recognition was awarded by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior, for Sport and Integration following a successful completion of the certification process.

The project for the LSI seal version 3.0 update has been ongoing since 2023, initiated by the Regensburg Real Estate Office. The office, under the leadership of Christian Schindlbeck, played a pivotal role in the project, coordinating its execution on behalf of the Regensburg District Office.

The cooperation of the involved municipalities and an external data protection consultancy, Mein-Datenschutzberater, was instrumental in the successful completion of the certification process. The consultancy, represented by Mr. Turban and Mr. Karmann, provided valuable support throughout the project.

Many technical and organizational measures for the LSI seal update were implemented centrally due to the uniform IT support of the administrations by the Regensburg Real Estate Office. This centralization supported a modern administration that is citizen-friendly, efficient, and forward-looking.

The Information Security Officer (ISB) positions of the individual administrations are jointly occupied by the Real Estate Office, ensuring a unified approach to IT security.

The award ceremony for the "Municipal Security" LSI seal was held at the Nittendorf Market's meeting room. The awards were presented by Finance and Home Minister Albert Füracker, LSI President Bernd Geisler, and District Administrator Tanja Schweiger.

Schweiger stated that the successful certification according to the LSI seal 3.0 demonstrates the municipalities' strong position in IT security and digitization. This achievement underscores the commitment of the Regensburg district to providing secure and efficient digital services to its citizens.

This milestone marks a significant step forward in the digital transformation journey of the Regensburg district, positioning it as a leader in IT security and digital administration in Bavaria.
