Wellhäuser Takes Over Eberle Butcher Shop in Horgenzell

After four decades of serving the community, the Eberle butcher shop in Horgenzell is set to retire, with the family business, Wellhäuser from Ravensburg, taking over the reins starting September 11th.

The Eberle family, consisting of Franz and Sylvia Eberle and their 24 employees, have been running the butcher shop since the 1950s. Franz Eberle, a Master Butcher of Baden-Württemberg, worked in the company for over 40 years, even slaughtering the animals himself along with his parents.

The new shop, spanning around 130 square meters, will be furnished with new furniture. Eleven employees from the previous butcher shop will be taken over, but a few more are still being sought. The team plans to offer a hot counter with cheese and other delicacies, as well as a lunch table.

The Eberles have had a strong relationship with local farmers for decades, with all the animals coming from the same farmers. They also provided meat and sausages for organic farmers. Last year, they closed their branch in Oberhofen.

In a heartfelt statement, Franz Eberle expressed his gratitude to their loyal customers who came from nearby towns. He mentioned that after retiring, he and his wife plan to expand their small farm and keep a few animals for themselves.

Nils Wellhäuser, one of the managing directors of Wellhäuser, expressed his excitement about the new location. He believes that the new branch in Horgenzell opens up a new catchment area. The production in Wald continues through an Eberle employee.

The Eberle butcher shop in Horgenzell was previously taken over by the company Metzgerei Linder before the Eberle family retired on September 11, 2023. The family moved into their current premises with their butcher shop in 2007, following their first shop opening in Wald in 1985 and the branch in Horgenzell in 1995. Despite retiring, this offer continues to exist.
