Local JROTC/ROTC programs receive a boost as the new school year commences, enhancing military training opportunities for students in the area.

The Redstone-Huntsville chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) recently celebrated the new school year, with a focus on supporting the cadets of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) and Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) programs.

During the celebration, U.S. Army Major General (Ret.) Patrick Burden delivered a motivational message, emphasizing the importance of leadership and taking care of those under one's charge. Burden, a graduate of Alabama A&M University's ROTC program, highlighted the positive impact good cadre and instructors can have.

Peter Grant, the Vice-President of ROTC Affairs for the Redstone-Huntsville AUSA chapter, also emphasized the importance of building relationships with the cadets. However, it should be noted that there is no publicly known "Peter Grant" who holds this position, at least according to the current official directories, news reports, or online sources up to September 2025.

Area and state school leaders were also present at the celebration, which aimed to support local JROTC and ROTC cadre and instructors. The local AUSA chapter recognized LTC (Ret) Brian Maijala for his 17 years of service with Madison County High School’s JROTC, and COL (Ret) Diane Richie for her 11 years of service with Lee New Century High School’s JROTC.

It is not clear if any awards or honors were given to COL (Ret) Diane Richie or LTC (Ret) Brian Maijala during the event, and the nature of the support the Redstone-Huntsville AUSA chapter intends to provide remains undisclosed.

If you are seeking to contact Peter Grant for professional or organizational purposes, it is recommended to reach out directly to the local AUSA chapter, whether at the university or in the city where you believe Grant is active. The contact details can usually be found on the official AUSA websites.

Alternatively, you may find it beneficial to contact the ROTC department of the relevant university or to search for the specific chapter on social media networks.

Despite the lack of concrete information about "Peter Grant," it is clear that he, or another local figure within the AUSA chapter, is committed to supporting the next generation of leaders through their involvement with the ROTC and JROTC programs. The Redstone-Huntsville AUSA chapter's support extends beyond building good Army officers; it aims to build good people.
