Stein Bids Farewell to Long-Serving City Councilor and Deputy Mayor Hannelore Pfetzing-Scheitinger

The city of Stein is mourning the loss of Hannelore Pfetzing-Scheitinger, a dedicated public servant who served on the city council from 1990 to 2020. Pfetzing-Scheitinger passed away on August 17, 2025, at the age of 76.

For over three decades, Pfetzing-Scheitinger was an integral part of Stein's municipal work. She held various positions, including Deputy Mayor from 1996 to 2002 and Third Mayor from 2002 to 2014. Her tenure saw significant contributions to the city's development and growth.

Deputy Mayor Bertram Hofer expressed his condolences, stating, "Stein has lost a responsible, heartfelt, and energetic personality with Hannelore Pfetzing-Scheitinger. We have also lost a warm-hearted person and a deserving local politician."

Pfetzing-Scheitinger's commitment extended beyond politics. She was actively involved in social projects for many years, supporting the food bank on a voluntary basis and receiving the Bavarian State Medal for Social Services in 2016. Her dedication to the community earned her the Citizen Medal from Mayor Kurt Kroemer in 2022.

In 2022, Pfetzing-Scheitinger was officially bid farewell, along with other long-serving city council members. Her leadership as the SPD faction leader in Stein from 1994 to 2008 and her service as a district councilor in the district of Fürth for many years were also recognised.

The city councilor's unwavering commitment to the well-being of the people was evident throughout her career. She contributed her experience in committees, including the main and finance committee, as well as in economic and social issues.

The city of Stein announced Pfetzing-Scheitinger's death on Friday. Her passing leaves a void that will be hard to fill, as she was not only a respected politician but also a beloved member of the community. Her legacy will continue to inspire future generations of public servants in Stein.
