Los Angeles Introduces "This is MANGA - The Art of NAOKI URASAWA" Exhibition, Marking Its First Appearance in North America; Event Kicks Off on January 23.
In an exciting development for manga enthusiasts, our website Los Angeles is set to host the exhibition "This is MANGA - The Art of NAOKI URASAWA" from January 23 to March 28, 2019. This extensive exhibit will showcase over 400 original drawings and storyboards from seven of Urasawa's major works, including "Monster," "20th Century Boys," and "Pluto."
The renowned Japanese manga artist, Naoki Urasawa, will be making an appearance at our website on January 23. The interview with Mr. Urasawa will take place in the Salon, Level 5, from 7:15PM- 8:45PM. Participation in this event is complimentary.
For those interested in learning more about manga creation, our website will offer interactive drawing workshops related to the "This is MANGA - The Art of NAOKI URASAWA" exhibition. These workshops, led by Los Angeles-based animator and illustrator, MinoMiyabi, will cover topics such as Character Drawing for Kids!, Elements of Character Designs for Manga & Comics, Compositions & Panel Layouts: "Koma-Wari" for Manga & Comics, and "Chara-Cature!" Your Caricature as a Manga Character. More details about these workshops will be released soon on our website.
The exhibit will also feature a special reading area stocked with full, published English translations of Urasawa's works. Additionally, a Naoki Urasawa book signing event will take place on January 23, 2019, at our website Gallery, Level 2. Participation in the book signing requires a book purchase at the our website "monozukuri shop".

The exhibit will introduce manga directly through Urasawa's manga, including his original hand-drawn storyboards. Furthermore, every other week, the exhibition will feature four consecutive YAWARA! stories, replicating the weekly serial style of many Japanese comic anthologies.
