Bergischer HC Welcomes Back Local Talent Lukas Becher

After some time away, Lukas Becher has returned to the professional squad of Bergischer HC (BHC). The 26-year-old left wing, hailing from Solingen, has signed a contract with the club until the end of the season.

Becher, who previously played four seasons in the Handball Bundesliga, started his career with BHC's youth team. His dream of representing his home club has now become a reality, as he dons the BHC jersey once more.

The experienced player expressed his excitement about the transfer, stating he's happy to be back and looks forward to his first games for the club. Becher will play alongside Noah Beyer and Belal Massoud (injured) on the left wing for BHC.

Becher's move to BHC marks his return to the Bundesliga, a league where he has already accumulated valuable experience. In the 2020/21 season, he played alongside Noah Beyer, Eloy Morante Maldonado, and Lukas Diedrich. During his time at HSG Wetzlar, Becher scored 145 goals in 94 games over three seasons.

Arnor Gunnarsson, BHC's coach, and Fabian Gutbrod, the sporting director, are delighted to have Becher on board. Gunnarsson was instrumental in recruiting the talented player, while Gutbrod emphasised Becher's importance in the locker room.

Becher's return to BHC was advised by HSG Wetzlar, following the termination of his contract with the club recently. Despite this, Becher is described as a nice guy who will be a valuable addition to the team both on and off the court.

Becher played youth with BHC before embarking on his professional career. He wore the BHC jersey in his childhood, a memory that no doubt contributed to his desire to return to the club.
