Mercedes-Benz Vision V Previews Luxury People-Mover of the Future

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the Mercedes-Benz Vision V, a show car that offers a glimpse into the brand's next top-end people-mover. The concept vehicle, planned to be built by MAN Truck & Bus, will form the basis for the future VLE and VLS luxury passenger cars, set to debut in 2026.

The Vision V boasts a unique design, with a modular and scalable van architecture distinct from commercial vans. Measuring 5486 mm in length, 2100 mm in width, and 1892 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3530 mm, the Vision V offers ample space for passengers and features automatic opening doors, including a right-hand "portal" door and both front doors.

Inside, the Vision V offers a luxurious experience, with crystal white Nappa leather, silk, and open-pore burr wood adorning the interior. The concept vehicle features reclining lounge-chair seating and a fold-out table finished like a chessboard. The driver and passenger are treated to a pillar-to-pillar "Superscreen" measuring 65 inches, offering a 4K Dolby Vision viewing experience.

The Superscreen provides real-time graphics and a customisable user interface, with seven themed cabin modes, including Entertainment, Relax, Gaming, Work, Shopping, Discovery, and Karaoke. Control of the entertainment system comes via the rear centre-console touchpad. The Vision V's audio-visual experience is further enhanced by a 42-speaker Dolby Atmos system, with seat exciters and seven projectors for a 360-degree visual experience.

The Vision V's technology extends to practical features, such as a switchable glass partition that can turn opaque in milliseconds for privacy or projection effects. The roof of the concept vehicle houses 168 IBC solar cells, capable of generating 539W of power and providing an average of 2.08kWh per day, rising to around 3.44kWh in peak summer sun.

While Mercedes-Benz has not disclosed details about the powertrain, battery capacity, output (kW), or production timing for the VLE and VLS, the Vision V serves as a reference for the potential design and digital theatre features of these luxury people-movers. The VLE, which can accommodate up to eight seats, is scheduled to debut in 2026.

The Vision V's exterior features glowing surfaces, from the grille louvres to the 24-inch wheels and the rear's 3D light array. This, combined with the luxurious interior, promises an unparalleled experience for passengers in the top-end segment, catered to by the VLS, following the introduction of the VLE.
