Seized Unclaimed High-End Items Valued over €150,000, Following Customs and Traffic Police Vehicle Check in Schweinfurt and Aschaffenburg

Luxury goods valued over €150,000 held in custody following joint investigation by Schweinfurt customs and Aschaffenburg traffic police, regarding an unclaimed vehicle.

On May 3rd, a significant seizure of luxury items took place at the customs office Dettelbach - Mainfrankenpark, following an inspection of a BMW X5 with German registration by the traffic police Aschaffenburg - Höschbach.

During the inspection, ten packs of untaxed tobacco products, gold jewelry worth over 100,000 euros, and almost 160 designer sunglasses with a value of over 50,000 euros were found in the vehicle. The seized goods, including smuggled cigarettes, have a total value of over 150,000 euros.

The joint press release about the seizure was issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office Aschaffenburg and the Main Customs Office Schweinfurt, marking a successful cooperation between Schweinfurt customs officers and the traffic police Aschaffenburg - Höschbach.

A criminal investigation was initiated against the vehicle's 30-year-old Romanian driver on suspicion of money laundering. The customs investigation office Frankfurt am Main is leading the ongoing investigation, working closely with the public prosecutor's office Aschaffenburg.

The Romanian citizen is the primary suspect in the ongoing money laundering investigation. The further criminal investigation has been taken over by the customs investigation office Frankfurt am Main.

The vehicle occupants made no statements about the type, origin, and destination of the already priced and prepared goods for resale. Since the vehicle occupants had not declared the goods for customs clearance upon entry into the European Union, a control unit of the Schweinfurt customs was called to take over the proceedings.
