New Omega Speedmaster: A Timeless Masterpiece in Platinum

Omega has unveiled a new iteration of its iconic Speedmaster watch, crafted with high-end materials that elevate its prestige in the world of horology.

The design of the new Speedmaster is an asymmetrical masterpiece, featuring a 42mm case made of platinum, a material commonly used in luxury timepieces. The watch retains a classic aesthetic with a black onyx dial, but it uses a lunar meteorite for the trio of subdials, a nod to the Speedy's legacy with the Apollo missions to the Moon.

The watch's chronograph features a ceramic tachymeter bezel insert instead of the usual aluminum one, adding a modern touch to the timeless design. The use of platinum and 18k white gold for the case, indices, and handset further enhances the watch's value.

The new Moonwatch version comes with a leather strap option, providing versatility for different occasions. The price of the watch varies depending on the band, with the platinum bracelet version priced at approximately $96,900, while the leather strap version is priced at around $65,200. The price difference between the two versions is more than $30,000.

The heart of this new Speedmaster is the revived Caliber 321 manual-wound movement, which can be viewed through the sapphire exhibition caseback. This movement, finished with 18k Sedna gold-PVD, is a testament to Omega's commitment to precision and craftsmanship.

Interestingly, this is not the first Moonwatch to feature meteorite on the dial. Previously, the Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition in Moonshine Gold also showcased meteorite on the dial, further cementing its connection to lunar exploration.

The new Omega Speedmaster is part of the permanent collection, making it a staple in the brand's lineup. If you're interested in owning this timeless piece, you can purchase it directly from Omega's website.

It's worth noting that the Speedmaster does not have a limited edition status, making it accessible to collectors and enthusiasts alike. With its unique design, high-end materials, and iconic heritage, the new Omega Speedmaster is a must-have for any watch enthusiast.
