MachineGames confirms potential continuation of Wolfenstein 3 game project
The world of gaming is buzzing with exciting news for fans of Fallout and Wolfenstein.
Firstly, the much-anticipated second season of the Fallout TV series is set to premiere on December 17. The first season garnered over one hundred million viewers as of last October, making it a massive success.
Meanwhile, in the world of Wolfenstein, there are rumours of a TV series in development at Amazon MGM Studios. However, no official details have been confirmed yet.
If the rumours are true, the Wolfenstein TV series would be produced by Jonah Nolan and Lisa Joy of Kilter Films, the same team behind the successful Fallout TV series.
The story of the Wolfenstein series continued with the release of Wolfenstein: The New Colossus in 2017. This was a reboot of the series, which was initially launched with Wolfenstein: The New Order in 2014. Since then, there has been no new Wolfenstein game, but MachineGames has indicated that more may be in the future.
In 2024, MachineGames released Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, a game featuring the iconic character Indiana Jones. The speaker, who has been playing the recently-launched DLC expansion, The Order of Giants, for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, named it their Game of the Year (GOTY) 2024 and praised it highly in their review.
MachineGames, the developer behind the Wolfenstein series, hopes to create a third game in the alternate-history Wolfenstein series. According to Jerk Gustafsson, studio head at MachineGames, if a third game is created, it would be the final adventure of BJ killing Nazis.
The potential Wolfenstein 3 would be developed using a fork of id Tech 7 called Motor, which introduced features like ray-traced lighting. MachineGames frequently collaborates with id Software, sharing feedback and technical expertise on the id Tech engine.
The speaker also expressed a desire for Quake to return with a new game, potentially as a co-developed title between MachineGames and id Software. MachineGames developed Indiana Jones and the Great Circle using a fork of id Tech 7, so a collaboration with id Software seems like a natural fit.
Todd Howard from Bethesda Game Studios served as executive producer on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, adding another layer of quality to the game. With Howard's expertise and MachineGames' proven track record, fans of both Fallout and Wolfenstein have much to look forward to.
In addition to the potential Wolfenstein 3, fans of the Fallout series will be delighted to know that a second season of the Fallout TV series is just around the corner. With the success of the first season, expectations are high for the second season.
Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting developments in the world of gaming.
