Mahindra experiences a 25% surge in sales in July 2025, with the Scorpio and Thar models leading the way; electric vehicles also make significant progress in sales.
Mahindra Unveils New SUVs and Platform for Future Lineup, Reports Strong Sales in July
Mahindra & Mahindra, India's leading automobile manufacturer, is gearing up for its annual Independence Day product launch on August 15th. The event will unveil several concept SUVs and introduce a new platform that could shape the company's future lineup starting in 2026.
In July, Mahindra reported strong sales across its product range. The company began deliveries for Pack 2 of the BE 6 and XEV 9e electric SUVs, and launched a larger 79 kWh battery pack for lower variants. The Treo electric passenger car experienced explosive growth, with 7,613 units sold in July, marking a 577% year-on-year (YoY) increase and 18% month-on-month (MoM) growth.
The XUV 3XO petrol variants sold 5,484 units in July, showing a 10.7% YoY decline but a 2.5% MoM growth. Mahindra exported 2,774 units in July, while the BE 6 and XEV 9e electric SUVs collectively had 4,008 units in July, remaining unchanged from June.
Mahindra's best-selling model in July was the Scorpio diesel, with 12,933 units sold, up 16.6% YoY and 7.7% MoM. The Thar diesel was the second best-seller, with 8,880 units sold, showing a 114.4% YoY increase and 2.4% MoM growth. Even the petrol model of the Thar registered strong growth, with 965 units sold in July, almost three times the levels of July 2024.
The XUV 3XO diesel and XUV400 electric together registered 2,044 units in July, showing a sharp 50.7% YoY drop but a 3.8% MoM increase. The XUV700 diesel sold 5,349 units in July, up 12.1% MoM but down 6% YoY.
The Zor Grand electric goods carrier recorded 436 units in July, showing a 33.7% YoY increase but a 12.3% MoM decrease. The Marazzo diesel, a low-volume MPV, reported 176 units in July, showing a significant percentage increase over last year and last month, albeit from a very low base.
The e-Alfa Mini three-wheeler dropped precipitously to 412 units in July, showing a 73.7% YoY decrease and 21.5% MoM decrease.
In an exciting development, Mahindra announced that the new sub-4-meter production SUV that will be launched on Independence Day 2025, based on the "Nu" multi-energy platform, is named the Mahindra Vision X. The Vision X features a sub-four-meter size, sharp geometric styling, and is part of Mahindra's Vision 2027 plan with versatile powertrain options.
Both the BE 6 and XEV 9e EVs have surpassed the 30,000 sales milestone since deliveries commenced in March. The total number of units sold by Mahindra in July 2025 was 83,691.
The "Freedom NU" show on August 15th will see the unveiling of several Vision-series concept cars and the all-new sub-4-meter production SUV based on the future 'Nu' multi-energy platform. With these upcoming launches and strong sales performances, Mahindra is poised for an exciting future in India's automobile market.
