Major crash on L742 highway in Olsberg town

A serious traffic accident occurred on the L 742 between Wulmeringhausen and Brunskappel at approximately 9:00 AM on Friday.

According to the Volunteer Fire Department Olsberg, the accident involved a 71-year-old Olsberg resident driving a Golf 7. The vehicle veered onto the opposite lane and collided head-on with a tree.

The Olsberg resident sustained severe injuries and was treated in an ambulance before being flown to a specialized clinic by a rescue helicopter.

The rescue operations, which included the use of hydraulic rescue equipment to gently free the Olsberg resident from the vehicle, involved a total of 7 vehicles and 42 personnel.

The country road was fully closed until about 12:00 PM to allow for the rescue operations. The rescue helicopter landing during the operations caused the railway line to be closed as well.

The fire department also absorbed any leaking fluids, ensured fire protection, and supported the towing company in removing the vehicle.
