Major Incident on 57 Neuss-Süd Highway: Vehicle Turns Over, Resulting in Three Injuries and Extensive Traffic Disruption

On Friday, August 29, 2025, a significant accident occurred on the A57 highway towards Nimwegen. The incident took place around 18:00, between the A46 and Neuss-Süd motorway interchange.

According to the Düsseldorf Police, the accident involved a Mercedes and a Citroën. The Mercedes was driven by a 47-year-old man from Cologne, who, remarkably, emerged unharmed from the collision. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the occupants of the Citroën.

The Citroën was occupied by three Polish men aged 20, 49, and 24. The 20-year-old man, who was driving the vehicle, sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident. His two passengers, aged 49 and 24, were fortunate enough to escape with only light injuries.

The sequence of events leading to the accident saw the Mercedes driver move from the right to the middle lane, causing a collision with the Citroën. As a consequence, the Citroën overturned and came to rest on its roof.

The emergency services were promptly called to the scene, and the lanes were closed for several hours to allow for the accident site to be cleared. The roads reopened around 20:45, bringing traffic back to normal.

An investigation into the accident was conducted by the Düsseldorf Police. The exact cause of the collision is still under investigation, but it is clear that the actions of the Mercedes driver had a significant impact on the outcome of the incident.

Our thoughts are with the injured individuals and their families during this difficult time. The public is reminded to drive with care and caution, especially on busy highways like the A57.
