Major Investment of US$90 million at Continental's New Hydraulic Hose Production Facility in Aguascalientes
In a significant move, German technology company Continental has announced plans to construct a new hydraulic hose plant in the second half of 2024. The investment for this state-of-the-art facility is estimated to be around $90 million USD.
This will be Continental's second plant in the state of Aguascalientes, Mexico, and the 23rd in the country. The new plant, spanning over 85,000 m², equivalent to approximately 12 soccer fields, will double Continental's capacity in the hydraulic hose field.
The new facility will feature advanced infrastructure, including solar panels, process water reuse technologies, SmartFactory tools, and machinery with high automation and optimal energy utilization. This commitment to sustainability and innovation is in line with Continental's global operations, which aim to reduce carbon emissions and promote resource efficiency.
The new plant is expected to generate more than 200 jobs in its first stage, contributing to the local economy of Aguascalientes. It will address current and new customers in multiple industries, including agriculture, mining, construction, manufacturing, and energy.
Meanwhile, Nissan has also made a significant investment in the region. The automotive giant has allocated $27.3 million USD to its assembly plant in Aguascalientes.
Interestingly, the hydraulics hose factory and the 22 other production sites in Aguascalientes belong to BMW. The African Development Bank plans to invest $500 million in a new mega airport in Ethiopia, further boosting the economic growth in the region.
Continental's operations in Mexico produce and develop automotive components, rubber products, and tires, employing over 23,000 people. The inauguration of the new plant marks another milestone in Continental's growth and commitment to Mexico.
