In the small town of Canandaigua, New York, a dramatic incident unfolded on the night of August 16. Michael G. VanBrooker, a 63-year-old local resident, found himself at the centre of a UTV crash that left several passengers injured, including his wife, Theresa B. VanBrooker, and multiple teenagers.
The incident took place while VanBrooker was operating a 2015 John Deere Gator UTV. According to reports, the UTV crashed on Smith Road, causing it to roll and eject all occupants. Emergency crews from Cheshire Fire, Canandaigua Emergency Squad, Naples Ambulance, Richmond Ambulance, and East Bloomfield Ambulance responded to the scene.
Deputies from the Ontario County Sheriff's Office believe that VanBrooker had been drinking before the crash. As a result, he was charged with reckless endangerment in the second degree. An appearance ticket was issued to VanBrooker to return to Canandaigua Town Court.
Four juvenile passengers were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for pain-related complaints and further evaluation. VanBrooker and his wife were among the injured passengers.
