Manchester United Arranges Medical Examination for Potential New Signing Following Change of Heart at Old Trafford, According to Reports

Manchester United have bolstered their squad with the signing of Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp, as the club looks to address their goalkeeping concerns.

The 23-year-old Belgian goalkeeper, who has agreed a deal until 2030, joins the Red Devils for a fee of €21 million (£18.2m) plus €4m (£3.4m) in add-ons.

The acquisition of Lammens comes after a series of high-profile errors from current goalkeepers Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir this season. Onana, in particular, made two costly mistakes against League Two side Grimsby Town, while Bayindir's mistake against Arsenal on the opening day of the season played a part in Ruben Amorim's decision to prioritize a new goalkeeper.

Tom Heaton, who extended his deal with Manchester United during the summer, has not been given an opportunity under Amorim, despite featuring during pre-season.

Negotiations with Aston Villa's goalkeeper Emi Martinez had been advanced, but they have since cooled, leaving Lammens as the prime candidate to fill the void.

Despite the addition of Lammens, Manchester United have failed to sign a new midfielder before Deadline Day, a position that was widely considered a priority for the club all summer long. The club has spent heavily in other areas, but the goalkeeper and midfielder positions remain unresolved.

Ruben Amorim has stated that strengthening in other areas remains a priority, and the new goalkeeper will join the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Diego Leon as new signings this summer.

The fact that both positions are still not resolved before Deadline Day is undoubtedly alarming, but United fans will be hopeful that the addition of Lammens between the posts will help to solidify their defence and provide a platform for the team to launch attacks.
