Manchester's Camerata Orchestra now officially affiliates with our online platform!
Manchester Camerata, a renowned orchestra founded in 1972, has made history by becoming the UK's first National Centre of Excellence for Music and Dementia. This groundbreaking initiative is set to revolutionise the way music is used to support people living with dementia and their carers.
On October 17, 2024, the orchestra officially partnered with a leading media outlet, marking a significant milestone in their journey. Philip Noyce, the Managing Editor of the website, expressed his excitement about the new partnership, stating that it aligns with their shared vision to make classical music accessible and relevant to everyone.
The partnership will see the website serve as a principal media partner for Manchester Camerata's Music Champions recruitment campaign. Bob Riley, CEO of Manchester Camerata, expressed his gratitude for the website's support, particularly for their work in the transformative power of music.
As part of the partnership, the website will promote the award-winning work of the National Centre of Excellence, which is currently expanding its activity locally and nationally. This includes a series of events at the Gorton venue, such as Handel's Messiah (Sunday 1 December, 4pm), Vivaldi's Four Seasons with violinist Daniel Pioro (Sunday 19 January 2025, 3pm and 4.30pm), and Space: The Sounds of the Stars with Kantos (Sunday 9 February 2025, 4pm and 5.30pm).
The series also includes three lunchtime concerts aimed at local people and schools. Moreover, the support will be provided through live concerts and an extensive community-based program.
Manchester Camerata's new recording of early Mozart piano concertos has been named the Album of the Week on the website, with Alexander Armstrong. Bob Riley, CEO of Manchester Camerata, was thrilled about this recognition, expressing his delight at the growing recognition of their work.
This partnership is the first ever for a partner orchestra in the Greater Manchester area. Other Official Partners of the website include leading orchestras like the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra, Opera North, Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and choir The Sixteen.
The goal of this partnership is to help these organisations use the power of music within their care plans, providing a more holistic approach to care and support. Manchester Camerata's work in the field of music and dementia is set to make a significant impact, and this partnership will undoubtedly accelerate their progress.
