Maritime-Centric Recreational Pursuits

In the latest instalment of the ABCs of Nature series, hosted by School Time Snippets, we delve into the depths of the ocean with a captivating ocean collage and a variety of engaging ocean-themed activities.

The ocean collage, crafted on blue construction paper, features a collection of sea creature handprints and pictures cut from an old calendar. A shark was created using a blue handprint, while an octopus was made by painting only F's fingers and palm and making two overlapping handprints. The collection also includes fish, jellyfish, lobster, more fish, and even a whale. To add a touch of sparkle, blue glitter glue was used to create a shimmering ocean backdrop and to give the sea creatures a glittering finish. The blue glitter glue was kindly provided by craftprojectideas.com.

To finish the ocean collage, a paintbrush was used to spread glitter glue around the paper, creating a swirling, oceanic effect.

Beyond the ocean collage, there are numerous ocean-themed activities to explore. Crab and Lobster Activities, the Ocean Sensory Bag, the Tropical Island Water Table, and the Ocean Themed Bath are just a few examples. The Sparkle Fish Craft, with its glittering scales, is another favourite, adding a touch of underwater magic to any classroom or home.

Beach Cloud Dough, a tactile and sensory experience, is another great addition to the ocean-themed activities. By using sea shells to make imprints into the dough, children can create their own unique oceanic landscapes.

These activities are not only fun, but they also provide an opportunity for children to learn about various sea creatures and their habitats. They are a great way to immerse children in the wonders of the ocean and to spark their curiosity about the natural world.

So, join us as we continue our journey through the ABCs of Nature, exploring the depths of the ocean and the fascinating creatures that call it home. Stay tuned for more letters and more ocean-themed activities in the coming weeks!
