Marketplace Free pursues alliances for electrifying fleet across Latin America
New York-based startup incubator and business solutions company, Newlab, has partnered with Latin American e-commerce giant Mercado Libre to electrify the latter's delivery fleet. The partnership aims to deploy 10,000 electric vehicles (EVs) in Mercado Libre's fleet by 2025.
Through the collaboration, Newlab's Low Carbon Logistics Studio is assisting Mercado Libre in finding commercially viable applications in specific areas that can be deployed in Latin America. These areas include Micromobility, Retrofit, Shared Private Charging, Portable Chargers, EV Planning and Live Optimization Platform, and Aerial Delivery.
The goal is to test applications that can lead to both full product integration and/or investment. The pilot program by Newlab is accepting applications from companies in these specified areas until September 4, 2023.
Mercado Libre plans to have 10,000 electric vehicles in their delivery fleet by 2025, a significant step towards reducing carbon emissions. The partnership also involves finding ways to overcome challenges and taking advantage of opportunities for the electrification of Mercado Libre's delivery fleet.
The pilot program by Newlab is focused on finding applications in the specified areas that can be deployed in Latin America and lead to both full product integration and/or investment, as part of the partnership with Mercado Libre. Newlab is seeking companies in these areas to collaborate and test commercially viable applications.
