Martinez expresses preference for recruiting three strikers
Everton Preparing for Summer Transfer Window
Everton FC is gearing up for the summer transfer window, with a particular focus on reinforcing their midfield and attack. The Toffees have been planning ahead since January, according to manager Roberto Martinez, who expressed his desire to bring in three attacking players before the 2014-15 Premier League season.
Martinez, who has been preparing for the summer transfer window since January, stated that Everton needs one midfielder and three attackers. This comes after a successful season that saw the team finish sixth in the 2013-14 season, with Romelu Lukaku scoring 15 goals in 31 league appearances. However, Lukaku has since returned to parent club Chelsea, leaving a void in Everton's attacking line.
Steven Naismith, Kevin Mirallas, and Arouna Kone remain the only recognized forwards currently at Everton, following the departure of some influential loan players from previous seasons. The manager is confident in Everton's ability to strengthen their squad before the end of the transfer window.
Martinez has been impressed by some of the young players currently at Everton and is open to evaluating them during pre-season. The loan market may be a potential source for additional attacking players, as Everton has previously had success with loan signings such as Gareth Barry, Romelu Lukaku, and Gerard Deulofeu.
Everton's first match of the 2014-15 Premier League season is away to Leicester City on August 16. The club feels their goalkeeping and defense are sufficiently equipped, but they are eager to add reinforcements in midfield and attack to challenge for a higher position in the league.
