Massive Investment of Over 69 Billion Dollars Earmarked for Novorossiysk Transport Infrastructure Project
The Russian government has announced a significant infrastructure project under the "Construction" state program, aimed at enhancing cargo turnover and efficiency at the country's largest port, Novorossiysk. The project, totalling approximately 5 trillion rubles, is funded by the federal budget and is set to resolve bottlenecks on railway approaches to Russia's southern seaports.
The "Construction" program, initiated in 2023 as per a directive from Russian President Vladimir Putin, is a comprehensive plan that includes various infrastructure and social projects. The project in Novorossiysk is one of the key initiatives under this program.
The project's primary goal is to develop the transport hub in Novorossiysk by 2030. This will be achieved by constructing new railway parks, with approximately 50 km of additional tracks, and modernising the Novorossiysk station on the North Caucasus Railway.
The responsible executive for this project is a senior official from the Ministry of Transport or a related government agency, appointed by the Russian authorities overseeing infrastructure development.
The funds allocated for the development of the transport hub in Novorossiysk amount to 69.4 billion rubles by 2030. This investment is part of the larger "Construction" program, which exceeds 3 billion rubles in total.
The announcement was made on the government's website after a decree signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. This project is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of the country's transportation network, boosting the economy and trade in the region.
