Lucky Eastvale Couple Claims $4.1 Million JackpotCalifornia tribal casino's Megabucks machine strikes it big.
A couple with the luck of the devil visited the Pechanga Resort Casino recently and left with a life-changing experience.
This south of Los Angeles friendly, tribal casino, owned and run by the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians, played host to a pair from the nearby town of Eastvale on April 13. The anonymous duo chose to spend their evening at the casino as a staycation getaway, not knowing that their lives would receive a considerable boost.
The man, initially settled with a $100 gaming budget, decided to try his luck on a Megabucks MegaVault machine after dinner at Kelsey's. He shared his strategy, "Something whispered in my ear to up the ante." After a couple of $10 max spins, he struck gold and became a multimillionaire.
"I wasn't sure if we won at first. I believed I hit around $230, but the machine glass popped up the words 'call attendant,' so I knew something had to be way bigger," said the winner.
Earth-Shattering Windfall
By the time the slot attendant arrived, the happy couple recognized they had claimed the top prize of the progressive jackpot, which the momentous win stretched to a whopping $4,178,889.94. As both individuals are known to ramble, the news hasn't completely sunk in.
"She was right there with me the whole time. I thank the good Lord that she encouraged me to play," the man expressed his gratitude. Their serendipitous $4.1 million victory wasn't their first big win at Pechanga. In 2017 during a similar staycation, they scored a $17,000 slot win.
Come tax season, the couple will have to part ways with about $1.54 million to the federal government and an additional percentage to the state of California. Despite their substantial jackpot, they plan to pay off their children's student loans and car payments, claiming retirement isn't in the near future.
Pechanga Ch-Ching
The winning $4.2 million Megabucks jackpot isn't the first six-figure slot prize that Pechanga has witnessed in the recent past. Exactly a month prior, on March 13, a different player walked away with a $1,232,300.19 jackpot playing the Dragon Link slot game.
Boasting an extravagant 200,000 square feet gaming space, Pechanga houses 5,500 slot machines and 152 live dealer table games, making it one of the world's largest casinos. Legal sports betting remains inaccessible in California.
The Pechanga Resort offers over 1,100 hotel rooms and suites, ten tantalizing restaurants, a coffee house, three bars, and the Pechanga Theater, seating 1,200. Additional resort amenities include a spa and fitness center, shopping facilities, and a stunning 4.5-acre outdoor oasis pool complex.
The $4.2 million slot jackpot followed a hefty investment of $262 million by the Pechanga Tribe. The casino was inaugurated in June 2022, with two more expansion projects completed in 2003 and 2018 at a combined cost of $562 million. To enter the casino, visitors must be 21 years old or above.
