Mbappe rejoices in matching Thierry Henry's France goal record of 51, emphasizing the priority of team titles over personal accolades.

In a thrilling match at the Wroclaw Stadium in Poland, France kicked off their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-0 victory over Ukraine. The first goal of the night was scored by Michael Olise, but the spotlight was firmly on Kylian Mbappé.

Mbappé, who plays for Real Madrid, equalised Thierry Henry's tally of 51 international goals for France with a well-executed effort set up by Aurelien Tchouameni. The goal was a significant milestone for Mbappé, who has already enjoyed a glittering international career, including the 2018 World Cup triumph and the 2020-21 Nations League title.

Following the match, Mbappé expressed his gratitude to Henry, stating, "Big up to Titi! But now I want to surpass him! It's an honor to equal a player like Henry." However, Mbappé's focus is not solely on surpassing Henry's record. Instead, he is more concerned with winning games and titles with Les Bleus.

Mbappé's statement suggests that he is aware of the record's proximity, but he did not express a specific desire to surpass Olivier Giroud's all-time record. Giroud, who ended his international career after the 2024 European Championship, currently holds the record with 52 international goals.

With this victory, France now look forward to their next match, which will be a home game against Iceland in Group D at Parc des Princes on Tuesday. Mbappé, at 26 years old, will undoubtedly continue to be a key player for Les Bleus as they strive for success in the 2026 World Cup qualification.
