In Germany, a series of mandatory health consultations are in place to help sex workers protect their health and the health of their clients. These consultations cover a range of topics, including disease prevention, contraception, pregnancy, risks of alcohol and drug use, and individual health risks.

To attend these consultations, a good command of either German or English at a B2 level is required. Appointments can be scheduled in person or by phone, and if an interpreter is needed, one can be provided for free. However, it's important to inform the organisation in advance to avoid any rescheduling of the appointment.

The consultations are confidential and aim to provide sex workers with the necessary information to make informed decisions about their health and safety. The new Prostitution Act (ProstSchG) requires these consultations to inform sex workers about potential hazards and strengthen their right to self-determination.

A certificate of health consultation is required to be presented during registration and practice. A fee of €35 is charged for issuing this certificate according to § 10 Abs. 4 ProstSchG. Payment can be made on-site in cash, by EC-Cash, or credit card.

It's worth noting that these consultations are not limited to individuals. Companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, and interest groups can also attend to provide feedback on the effectiveness of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) in promoting fair and competitive digital markets. Contributions can be submitted in any official EU language and will generally be published by the European Commission.

In summary, mandatory health consultations for sex workers in Germany are an essential part of ensuring the health and safety of those involved in the industry. These consultations provide a platform for individuals and organisations to discuss and address various health-related issues, promoting a safer and more informed environment for all.
