The city of Passau is making significant strides in its cycling infrastructure, with numerous projects underway and planned for 2025.

One of the key projects is the construction of a cycle path in Schalding r.d.D., which is divided into two sections. The first section, from Gionstraße to Königschaldinger Straße, spans 1,700 meters, while the second section, from Königschaldinger Straße to Bibereckerweg, measures 535 meters. The estimated cost for the construction of this cycle path is around 3.6 million euros, with approximately 75% of the short-term measures from the cycling concept already completed.

The first section of the cycle path is scheduled to begin construction in the summer of 2025, while the second section is yet to receive a specific start date.

Another significant project is the Georgsberg tunnel for cyclists and pedestrians, which was completed in December 2024 at a cost of around 7.4 million euros. The Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport funded 4.48 million euros of its construction. The tunnel, which improves cycling traffic, is part of a larger plan that also includes a pedestrian path in Schalding r.d.D., featuring a marked cycle lane for improved cycling traffic.

Secure bike parking facilities are also a priority in Passau. In addition to the bike garage at the Ilzbrücke parking deck, accommodating 28 bicycles with charging options and a locker system with 24 lockers, secure bike parking facilities have been created at the Adalbert-Stifter-Gymnasium and the INN.KUBATOR startup center. The bike garage at the Ilzbrücke parking deck also includes a bike service station and digital access via app.

The optimization of cycle traffic on the Alte Straße includes the installation of a temporary cycle protection lane.

The Ries cycle and pedestrian path, with a 1.3-kilometer section between Neureut and Patriching, is another project that was recently completed on February 6, 2025.

Another planned cycling infrastructure is the cycle path along the St2110 from Neuburg Dommelstadl to Passau Kohlbruck.

The city of Passau considers the implementation of the planned measures and action areas from the cycling concept as of great importance. On February 6, 2025, an interim report on the cycling concept was presented to the Committee for Urban Development and Mobility.

However, the responsible person for the implementation of the current cycling traffic concept in the city of Passau since September 2019 is not explicitly mentioned in the search results.

In conclusion, Passau is making significant strides in its cycling infrastructure, with numerous projects underway and planned for 2025. The city's commitment to improving cycling traffic and providing secure parking facilities demonstrates its dedication to promoting a more sustainable and eco-friendly mode of transportation.
