Mentorship program for female leaders in government concludes at central administrative offices
The Cross-Mentoring Program for Women in Kassel's Civil Service concluded in mid-May at the Walter-Lübcke-Saal. This initiative, aimed at fostering female specialists and managers, marked its second iteration, having launched in 2023.
The program, led by the women's and equal opportunities officers of the city of Kassel, the county of Kassel, the city government headquarters, and the government headquarters in Kassel, provided opportunities for further development, networking, coaching, and workshops on "Assuming Leadership".
A total of 36 participants (18 mentees and 18 mentors) from the city, county, and RP Kassel administrations took part. The program enabled participants to gain practical insights into leadership structures and receive valuable impulses for their professional future.
The formats, which included regular meetings between mentees and mentors, a networking dinner for mentors, networking events for mentees, and two workshops, facilitated an intensive exchange and provided practical insights into leadership structures.
Landrat Andreas Siebert emphasized that the administration benefits from targeted and cost-effective personnel development through the program. Sonja Pfeiffer, Women's and Equal Opportunities Officer at the RP Kassel, expressed her pleasure at the government headquarters in Kassel's active participation in the program.
The Cross-Mentoring Program does not focus on advertisements but rather on fostering the career development of women in public administration. It is designed to minimize the gender gap in leadership positions within public administration and promote the career development of women.
Mayor Henry Richter hopes for more city administration mentees to participate in the program in the future. He believes that small and medium-sized administrative units can also benefit from the personnel development measure offered by the program.
The program, which concluded with a final event, also highlighted the importance of inter-communal networking, knowledge transfer, and best practice approaches to strengthen women in leadership positions.
This year, the Cross-Mentoring Program concluded successfully, leaving a positive impact on the participants and the administration. As the program looks towards the future, it continues to strive towards its goal of promoting the career development of women in public administration.
