Mercedes-Benz Introduces New Plug-In Hybrid SUV: GLC 350 e 4MATIC

Mercedes-Benz has expanded its electrification strategy with the introduction of the GLC 350 e 4MATIC, a new plug-in hybrid SUV set to hit Australian roads from September 2025. The announcement was made by Liam Butterworth, the manager responsible for Mercedes-Benz Australia.

The GLC 350 e 4MATIC offers customers more efficient choices without compromising on equipment or capability. It combines a four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor, producing a total system output of 230 kW and 550 Nm. This powerful hybrid setup allows the SUV to travel up to 132 km on electric power alone and reach 140 km/h without using petrol.

Three driving modes - Electric, Battery Level, and Hybrid - are accessible via DYNAMIC SELECT, allowing drivers to tailor the vehicle's performance to their needs. A haptic accelerator pedal guides efficient transitions between power sources, ensuring a smooth and seamless driving experience.

In terms of design, the GLC 350 e 4MATIC features illuminated door sills and a chrome interior package as standard. Inside, the AVANTGARDE interior offers heated memory front seats with lumbar support, ambient lighting, a head-up display, and a panoramic sunroof. The Sport Package, priced at $6,000 MRLP, adds AMG Line styling, larger front brakes, and 20-inch wheels, while the Night Package, priced at $1,300, darkens exterior elements when combined with Sport.

The Plus Package bundles driver assistance systems, Burmester® 3D audio, DIGITAL LIGHT, enhanced vehicle protection, and MBUX augmented reality navigation. Connectivity features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless phone charging, digital radio, and a fingerprint scanner.

For quick charging, an optional 55 kW DC fast-charging package can restore 0-80 per cent battery capacity in around 20 minutes. Standard features include AVANTGARDE exterior styling, privacy glass, metallic paint, and aluminum-look side steps. The SUV also comes with a rear axle self-levelling suspension system for a consistent ride height.

Two cables are provided for wallbox, public, and home charging. A full recharge using 11 kW AC charging takes approximately two hours. The GLC 350 e 4MATIC is available with three option packs: Sport Package, Night Package, and Plus Package.

With the launch of the GLC 350 e 4MATIC, Mercedes-Benz continues to broaden electrification across its range, providing customers with more sustainable and efficient choices. The SUV is set to make its debut in September 2025.
