On July 22, 2025, the Greifswald Market Square will be transformed into a hub for all things surveying as the Day of Geodesy information and career fair makes its debut. This nationwide event, organised by surveying offices, authorities, and educational institutions, is a part of the statewide programme.
The focus of the day is on the world of surveying, with experts from various surveying offices and authorities ready to share their insights into the field of geodesy and geoinformation. Attendees can expect a fascinating exploration of classical field surveying, modern drone technology, and digital cartography.
Interactive stations, practical demonstrations, and hands-on activities will be available for attendees to try out, providing a unique opportunity to witness the interplay of modern technology and traditional craftsmanship. One such exhibit will be an exhibition of a surveying boat.
The event will also showcase the latest advancements and traditional aspects in the field of surveying. For instance, attendees can look forward to learning about the printing of 3D buildings, a cutting-edge technology in the industry.
The importance of geodesy in our daily lives, including navigation systems and climate protection, will be showcased throughout the day. A presentation on the GeoLab teaching tool is also scheduled, offering a glimpse into innovative educational resources in the field.
Staff from the city's building authority and department of geoinformation and surveying will be present to answer any questions and provide career guidance. The event warmly invites students, families, and interested citizens to learn about careers in geomatics or surveying technology.
