NextSource Shifts Focus to Middle East for Battery Anode Facility

NextSource Materials Inc., a company specialising in the production of battery-grade anode material for electric vehicles, is changing its strategy for its Battery Anode Facility (BAF). The company is now targeting key sites in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the project, following a prolonged and uncertain regulatory process in Mauritius.

The decision to shift focus follows global efforts to diversify away from China-dominated production. The strategic pivot positions NextSource closer to major electric vehicle manufacturers, allowing the company to capitalise on growing demand for localised battery material supply chains.

NextSource's BAF is designed to convert graphite concentrate into battery-grade anode material. The company is actively negotiating with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the United States, Canada, and Europe to secure supply agreements for their high-quality graphite anode product used in lithium-ion batteries.

NextSource is receiving positive feedback from product qualification trials for its battery-grade anode material. The company's transportable BAF equipment will be redeployed to more favourable jurisdictions in the Middle East, where it will be utilised for the new project.

The UAE faces a 10% reciprocal tariff on US-bound graphite anode material, which is lower than tariffs applied to Chinese counterparts. This trade advantage, combined with streamlined permitting and strong infrastructure, makes the region an attractive choice for NextSource's BAF project.

Hanré Rossouw, CEO of NextSource, stated that the company is excited to pursue larger-scale opportunities in the Middle East. The shift to the region aligns with the company's aim to move within jurisdictions that offer these advantages.

In addition, NextSource is terminating its lease and withdrawing its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) application in Mauritius to avoid further costs. The company's BAF strategy has been shifted to the Middle East, marking a significant step forward in NextSource's mission to become a leading supplier of battery-grade anode material.

NextSource Materials Inc. (TSX:NEXT, OTCQB:NSRCF) is a Canadian-based company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the OTCQB Venture Market. The company's shift to the Middle East for its BAF project reflects its commitment to innovation and growth in the electric vehicle industry.
