Luka Modric Helps Milan to First League Win

Luka Modric, the marquee arrival at AC Milan after leaving Real Madrid, has stated that he is enjoying his experience with the Italian club so far. In an interview with DAZN, the Croatian midfielder expressed his delight at being part of the team and his eagerness to contribute to their success.

Modric has been asked by head coach Massimiliano Allegri to help the team regain their confidence, particularly in light of their disappointing start to the 2025-26 Serie A campaign, which saw them suffer a shock 2-1 defeat to Cremonese. However, the 36-year-old midfielder's influence was evident in Milan's first league win of the season, a 2-0 victory over Lecce.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic scored the goals for Milan against Lecce, with Modric providing the assist for Loftus-Cheek's goal. This made Modric the oldest midfielder to provide an assist in Serie A since the 2004-05 season.

Modric admitted that he is still acclimating to the Italian league, but he appreciates the presence of many Croatian players at Milan, including Mateo Kovacic and Ante Rebic. He also acknowledged that the Italian league is tactically challenging, but he intends to use his experience during his latest venture with Milan to navigate the competition.

In addition, Modric has been asked by the coach to communicate more on the pitch due to the presence of many young players. He expects to be fully fit after the international break and is looking forward to continuing to help Milan move with more fluidity, as Allegri has asked him to do.

Milan kept a clean sheet in two of their last three Serie A games, a feat they achieved only thrice in their previous 13 games in the competition. This suggests that Modric's influence on the team has been positive, not just in terms of goalscoring, but also in terms of defensive solidity.

Overall, Modric's arrival at Milan has been a boost for the club, both on and off the pitch. His experience, skill, and leadership have already proven to be invaluable, and fans will be hoping that he can help Milan challenge for the Serie A title this season.
