In a series of attacks, Russia launched a renewed bombardment on Ukraine, sending 537 drones and 45 missiles towards various cities. The bombardment left dozens wounded, with a rising expected death toll and more people believed to be trapped under the rubble.

The cities of Zaporizhia, Pavlohrad, Dnipro, Chernihiv, Lutsk, and Cherkasy were among those targeted. The attacks reduced homes and shops to rubble, causing widespread destruction.

In Kyiv, at least nineteen people, including three children, were killed in the strike, as confirmed by President Zelensky. The British Council in Kyiv was also hit during the overnight drone and missile assault.

The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, stated that President Trump is "not happy, but not surprised" about the strike on Kyiv. The Russian ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Office over the strike on the Ukrainian capital.

The UK Foreign Office also summoned a representative of the Russian government in connection with the attack on Ukraine. Both the UK and the wider European Union have taken similar actions, expressing their concern over the escalating violence.

In a recent development, Ukraine's military targeted two Russian oil refineries in Krasnodar and Syzran. This move, according to the White House press secretary, dealt a significant blow to Russia's oil refineries.

The Ukrainian army reported destroying 510 drones and 38 missiles in the defence against the Russian attacks. However, the attacks on Zaporizhia resulted in at least one death and 24 injuries.

The attacks prompted NATO jets in Poland to scramble, highlighting the potential for the conflict to spread beyond Ukraine's borders. As the situation continues to evolve, the international community remains vigilant and calls for a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
