The Israeli security cabinet has given the green light for the takeover of the northern part of the Gaza Strip, a city that has been under Israel's seal since August. This decision comes as Prime Minister Netanyahu reiterates his stance, "What began in Gaza must end in Gaza." However, the army chief, Eyal Zamir, has voiced concerns, urging for a deal to free more hostages held by Hamas, as reported by the Israeli news portal "ynet."

The war in Gaza, described by Netanyahu as a "tenacious and just war," has taken a toll on both sides. Over 63,600 Palestinians have reportedly been killed since the conflict began, according to the health authority controlled by Hamas. On the Israeli front, hundreds of thousands of people are said to be in the city of Gaza, with tents being prepared for them in the south of the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli army's mobilization of 60,000 reservists for the planned offensive against the city of Gaza has not been without controversy. Many reservists are questioning the purpose of the war, with some expressing personal and ideological reasons for refusing military service. A significant number of reservists, around 400, have reportedly announced that they will not comply with a call-up, citing concerns about the legality and safety of the planned operation.

The economic costs for Israel due to the war are high, according to media reports. Moreover, the planned takeover of the city of Gaza not only endangers the lives of the soldiers but also those of the hostages held by Hamas. The current situation has reportedly strained many reservists' marriages due to the demands of the war.

Israel's military chief, Eyal Zamir, has announced the expansion of combat operations, with the mobilization of tens of thousands of reservists for the takeover of the city of Gaza. However, a reserve officer who has already spent 550 days on duty stated that the war is long, but they have no alternative. A medic who recently served in Gaza stated that there is nothing more to militarily gain in the war.

Amidst the ongoing conflict, a group of Israeli reservist soldiers has announced their refusal to military service, expressing their concerns about dying senselessly in the conflict in Gaza and viewing some orders as illegal. This resistance from within the ranks highlights a significant problem in mobilizing enough reservists for the offensive in Gaza.

In a bid to address the population of Gaza, a military spokesman has addressed the population on the online platform X, stating that evacuation is inevitable. However, living conditions in the Gaza Strip are reportedly catastrophic, according to aid organizations, raising questions about the humanitarian implications of the ongoing conflict.

As the situation in Gaza continues to evolve, the decisions and actions of both the Israeli government and its reservists will be closely watched and debated.
