Milk's Tea, a family-run company, broadens its American business reach.

Looks like even smaller businesses are jumping on the bandwagon - they're ramping up domestic manufacturing in 2025, just like the major corporations.

You might've heard about Milo's Tea Company, a homegrown beverage empire that got a boost from Walmart. They recently opened a brand-new, swanky $200 million manufacturing and distribution facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This marks their fourth facility, baby!

This family-run, power-woman-led company hails from Alabama and has been bubblin' up iced tea and lemonade since 1946, founded by Milo and Bea Carlton. The man himself served in WWII before establishing this sweet empire.

Now, it's no secret that Milo's Tea has been expanding like crazy to keep up with the thirsty crowds. Their first plant sprouted in Alabama way back in 2002, but it was too tiny to handle their rapid growth.

"Since our sales skyrocketed over the past decade, we knew we needed a new home," Milo's Tea Company's CEO, Tricia Wallwork, admitted to FOX Business. So, they embarked on a multiyear hunt for the perfect spot, and by early 2020, they found it - their second facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They doubled the capacity there and tripled the job count!

In 2021, Milo's Tea expanded again, snatching up a closed-down dairy facility.

Over the past 13 years, they transformed from just 50 employees to nearly a squad of 1,000. Today, you can find their six core products in more than 55,000 retail locations nationwide, including approximately 4,200 Walmart stores.

When their South Carolina facility is fully operational, it'll employ over 200 workers. This plant is part of Walmart's $350 billion commitment to invest in American-made products over the next 10 years.

Walmart has knocked it out of the park twice with multibillion-dollar pledges to support U.S. jobs through domestic sourcing, having made the initial commitment back in 2013. Each year, they host an event called Open Call, which is their way of connecting with potential suppliers and growing together.

Walmart U.S. CEO John Furner revealed that in fiscal year 2024, over two-thirds of their product spend was on American-made, grown, or assembled items. Although they still rely on global procurement for specific goods, they're always on the hunt for partners that can help them lower prices and provide the best products.
