Missouri quarterback Sam Horn sidelined for an extended duration due to a leg injury
Missouri Tigers football suffered a significant blow in their season-opening victory over Central Arkansas, as starting quarterback Sam Horn sustained a serious right leg injury during the game.
Horn, who was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2025 MLB draft's 17th round and signed with the team for just under $500,000, was forced to leave the game early after an injury on a quarterback keeper in the first quarter. The play was his first snap of the game.
Coach Eliah Drinkwitz is waiting for more information following Horn's MRI exam, and the medical report or hospital records provide information about the diagnosis of Horn's injury and the prognosis of his recovery. Drinkwitz stated that Horn will be out for an extended period of time.
Before the injury, the plan for Missouri's game against Central Arkansas was for Horn and Penn State transfer Beau Pribula to share the workload. However, Pribula will now start as the Missouri quarterback after completing 23 of 28 passes for 283 yards, two touchdowns, and rushing for 65 yards and two scores against Central Arkansas.
Horn missed all of last football season due to Tommy John surgery, making this injury a significant setback for the promising quarterback. After the injury, Horn was seen using crutches and wearing a full-length brace on his leg.
Missouri's next game is scheduled for September 6 against Kansas. The Tigers will be looking to rebound from the loss of their starting quarterback and continue their strong start to the season.
Drinkwitz stated that he wanted to review game tape of both players before naming a starting quarterback, but the injury to Horn has forced his hand. Pribula will take the reins of the Missouri offense as they look to continue their winning ways.
The Tigers will be hoping for a speedy recovery for Horn, but in the meantime, they have a capable replacement in Pribula to lead them on the field.
