Mobile environmental unit gathers troublesome waste once more, according to latest reports.
In the beautiful town of Cham, residents have the opportunity to dispose of their household hazardous waste in an environmentally friendly and safe manner. Here's a comprehensive guide to help you understand the collection process, dates, and what substances are accepted.
From now until mid-October, you can dispose of your hazardous waste for free. The aim of this collection is to ensure the safe disposal of harmful substances, protecting both the environment and public health.
The next opening at the stationary hazardous waste collection point in Cham is on Friday, November 7th, at 13:00. It's essential to note that due to limited loading capacity and organizational requirements, commercial or public institutions may not dispose of their hazardous waste at these collection points.
For small quantities, you can visit the stationary hazardous waste collection point at the recycling center in Cham year-round by appointment. Appointments can be made by calling 09971/78-497.
The collection is exclusive for private households and not for commercial or public institutions. To ensure a smooth process, it's recommended that you dispose of waste personally and at the specified times.
Fluorescent tubes are allowed up to 10 pieces per household, but used oil is not accepted and must be returned to the point of sale or disposed of at a stationary collection point for a fee.
It's crucial to seal containers well and bring them in the original packaging if possible. Household hazardous substances such as chemicals, solvents, paints, batteries, pesticides, and other toxic or flammable materials should not be disposed of in regular household waste. These substances pose a danger to health and the environment and must be taken to special collection points or hazardous waste facilities for proper disposal.
Remember, do not mix different hazardous substances. Start batteries from online retailers are only accepted without a receipt. Hazardous waste such as batteries, paints, solvents, plant protection products, chemicals, spray cans with residue, neon tubes, and mercury thermometers should not be disposed of in household waste.
For questions about collection and disposal, you can contact the waste advisory service of the Cham County Works at 09971/78-352.
The locations, dates, and times of the collection points can be found via the WebApp of the Cham County Works or at www.kreiswerke-cham.de. Additionally, the environmental mobile unit visits all 39 municipalities in the Cham district in the fall, providing another opportunity for hazardous waste disposal.
Take advantage of these opportunities to ensure the safe disposal of your household hazardous waste, contributing to a cleaner and safer environment for everyone.
