Montgomery Group Africa Becomes New Identity for Specialised Exhibitions

In a significant move, the Montgomery Group, a fifth-generation family-owned business celebrating its 130th year in 2025 and the UK's longest-running independent events organizer, has announced a transformation. The company, previously known as Specialised Exhibitions, has transitioned to consolidate its regional divisions across Africa, now operating under the name Montgomery Group Africa.

The name change, effective from 1st September 2025, aims to create a more agile, efficient, and future-focused organization. This transition has not affected day-to-day operations, with registered business entities in each region remaining unchanged. All current invoicing and banking details will continue as usual.

Montgomery Group Africa has been organising events across Africa since launching Specialised Exhibitions in South Africa in 1968. Its African presence has expanded to include events in Botswana, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, Libya, Zimbabwe, and more, alongside its well-established portfolio of trade exhibitions throughout South Africa.

The African events portfolio is now consolidated under Montgomery Group Africa, supporting an ambitious growth phase across the continent. Key events within the portfolio include Securexpo and its co-locates, which are launching for the first time in Cape Town in October 2025. Propak Africa, Propak Cape, Propak West Africa, and Propak East Africa are leading as the largest packaging, plastics, print, food processing, and labelling exhibitions in Africa.

As part of the transition, Gary Corin, Managing Director for South Africa, has taken on the additional role of Managing Director for West Africa events. Angela Kinyua continues as Managing Director of the East African events. The marketing team is leading the rollout of the Montgomery Group Africa brand across the African region, overseeing all marketing communications and collateral development.

The marketing team is working closely with East and West African marketing teams to ensure a consistent and impactful brand presence across all markets. This collaboration is intended to build clarity, strength, and agility for growth across all regions. Montgomery Group Africa aims to enhance collaboration, improve resource allocation, and enable faster decision-making.

The global team consists of over 150 passionate events professionals, dedicated to delivering high-quality events that cater to the needs of their diverse audience. The consolidation of the African events portfolio under Montgomery Group Africa is a testament to the company's commitment to growth and development across the continent.
