In an exciting turn of events, Morocco has officially qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking their return to the global football stage since their last appearance in 2018. The Atlas Lions secured their place in the tournament through the CAF qualification process, having won their group in the African qualifiers.

The qualifying match that sealed Morocco's fate took place in Rabat, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, which will also host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final and feature in the 2030 World Cup. In a dominant display, Morocco recorded a 5-0 victory over Niger, with goals from Ismael Saibari (29th and before halftime), Azzedine Ounahi (second half), Hamza Igamane (from a clever corner routine), and Ayoub El Kaabi (assisted by Youssef Belammari).

Meanwhile, Egypt is one step away from qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, currently holding a five-point cushion in Group A. Their journey towards qualification, however, took a slight detour in their latest match against Ethiopia, which ended in a 2-0 win thanks to penalties scored by Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush.

Egypt's qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup would mark their first appearance since 2018. Their qualification hopes will be determined in upcoming matches, with the crucial qualifying match against Burkina Faso scheduled for Tuesday. A victory against Burkina Faso would guarantee Egypt's qualification for the global tournament.

Burkina Faso's victory over DR Congo in their qualifying match keeps their own qualification hopes alive. Yoane Wissa scored for DR Congo in the same match, while Dango Ouattara found the back of the net for Burkina Faso.

The results of the qualifying matches keep the qualification hopes alive for several African teams, as the race to secure a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup continues. The qualifying process for the tournament is ongoing, with many exciting matches yet to come.
