Two recent cases involving large criminal organizations have come to light. The cases have already been handed over to court in both instances.

Thirty-One in Crimea Charged for Illegal Gambling

The Crimean Investigative Committee has wrapped up investigations into a criminal gang that built illicit gambling dens across the peninsula. Comprising 31 members, each with varying roles and levels of participation, the group is charged with:

  • Creating a criminal organization and partaking in it.
  • Organizing and controlling gambling operations using gambling equipment outside designated zones.
  • Utilizing information and telecommunications networks.
  • Involving minors in criminal activities.

The gang was led by its top dogs who coordinated six gambling establishments in Simferopol, Kerch, and Yalta. The ring-leader raked in over 70 million rubles through their illicit gambling ventures.

The gang's criminal antics were nipped in the bud during operations carried out by the FSB and the republican MVD.

During search operations in the gambling dens and the suspects' residences, the following were seized:

  • Gambling equipment.
  • Financial documents.
  • Business cards.
  • Advertising flyers.
  • Money obtained through illegal gambling.

According to the Investigative Committee's press service, the republican prosecutor's office has approved the indictments in all criminal cases against the 31 suspects. Their cases have been sent to the Kyiv District Court in Simferopol for trial.

Over Twenty Defendants in the Moscow Region

Over twenty people are facing charges for their involvement in illegal gambling activities in the Moscow region.

In the Moscow region, 22 members of a criminal syndicate will stand trial, charged with organizing and operating illegal gambling operations. This information was disclosed by Olga Vradiy, senior assistant to the head of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Moscow region.

During investigations in gambling dens, gambling equipment, technical devices, substantial amounts of money, rough accounting records, and approximately 60 mobile devices were seized. Through complex forensic examinations, the defendants are charged with:

  • Creating a criminal organization.
  • Participating in it.
  • Organizing illegal gambling.

The indictment has been approved by the prosecutor, with the case materials handed over to the Odintsovo City Court for trial.
