Moscow's main staff officer declares persisting military assaults
In the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, various developments have been reported over the past few days.
Russia's Chief of Staff, Valery Gerasimov, has announced the continuation of the invasion with new objectives for an autumn offensive. This announcement comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected Russia's demand for Ukrainian forces to withdraw from Donetsk, citing the strategic importance of cities like Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. In response, Russia has threatened to capture these cities if Ukraine does not comply with Russia's demand for withdrawal.
Russia currently controls approximately 99.7% of the Luhansk region, 79% of Donetsk, 76% of Kherson, and 74% of Zaporizhzhia, according to Gerasimov, but these figures are unverified.
Meanwhile, Russia's destructive war continues with new objectives, as announced by Gerasimov. Constant attacks are currently underway along the entire front line in the ongoing Russian invasion.
European leaders, however, have not been explicit in their criticism of the allegations of Russian sabotage. Instead, Western and European leaders like Manfred Weber call for stronger defense against Russian aggression, implying acceptance of the accusations rather than criticism.
Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev, on the other hand, accuses Europeans of prolonging the conflict with unrealistic demands. He also urges the EU to stop sabotaging the peace process. Russia has made accusations of sabotage by Europeans, but no specific details about these accusations were provided in the article.
The US is reportedly starting to understand this, according to Dmitriev. Russia rejects representatives from NATO states and criticizes European plans to send troops to Ukraine to secure a future peace.
Amidst these tensions, the Russian military is reportedly setting goals for the armed forces for the autumn period, as stated by Valery Gerasimov. The Russian war in Ukraine has been ongoing for over three and a half years, and the future remains uncertain.
