In a groundbreaking move, the Negeri Sembilan Health Department has introduced the MyDIDCOM website, a platform designed specifically to provide medicine-related information for the deaf and mute community. This innovative project, part of the Drug Information for Deaf Community (DIDCOM) initiative, is the second phase of the Bridge-D'Gap project, an organisation dedicated to bridging healthcare access gaps, particularly for the deaf community.

Developed towards the end of 2023, MyDIDCOM was the brainchild of a team of 10 pharmacists, including one with expertise in web development. The website offers a unique approach to healthcare, providing instructional videos and new medical terms in sign language, making it accessible to those who are deaf or mute.

Over 40 deaf individuals have already utilised the WhatsApp service and the MyDIDCOM website, and feedback is provided instantly or within one working day. The website also allows persons with disabilities to submit questions directly to pharmacists through live chat, with 54 pharmacists across the state having been trained in sign language to ensure effective communication.

The success of the MyDIDCOM website was recognised on a global scale when the Bridge-D'Gap project was named one of the world's best digital projects at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland. The organisation World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) honoured the project for its significant contributions to digital equality and accessibility.

The award for the Bridge-D'Gap project was organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a specialised agency under the United Nations. This recognition reflects the project's commitment to inclusivity, compassion, and well-being, values that align with the Malaysia Madani aspiration.

Promotion efforts for the MyDIDCOM website are ongoing through the Negeri Sembilan edition of the Madani Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2025. Through PMR, technology-based approaches such as MyDIDCOM are broadening healthcare access and reflecting the Malaysia Madani aspiration, which emphasises inclusivity, compassion, and well-being.

In addition to PMR, promotion efforts are being made through NESDA's social media and internal announcements in pharmacy departments statewide. Users can also upload photos of medicines and receive explanations on dosage, usage, and purpose on the MyDIDCOM website.

The MyDIDCOM website is a testament to the Negeri Sembilan Health Department's dedication to ensuring equal access to healthcare for all, regardless of ability. It is a significant step forward in digital healthcare and a beacon of hope for the deaf and mute community in Negeri Sembilan.
