Movie earnings for Param Sundari on Day 6: Romantic comedy featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor experiences lowest sales yet, experiences 40% decline
In the bustling world of Bollywood, a new contender has entered the race, but its journey has been a mixed bag so far. The film "Param Sundari", starring Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra, has been produced and distributed by Yash Raj Films.
Despite a promising start, opening with Rs 7.25 crore, the film has seen a 40% drop in collections from Day 5 to Day 6, earning Rs 2.85 crore in India on its sixth day. This drop in collections has raised concerns about its performance in the long run.
As of now, Param Sundari's total gross collection in India stands at approximately Rs 44.50 crore, while its total net collection is Rs 37.10 crore. This is significantly lower than some of the other romantic dramas that have been released this year.
The film's worldwide collection currently stands at nearly Rs 59.50 crore, with overseas markets contributing just under Rs 15 crore. This is a far cry from the staggering Rs 550 crore worldwide collection of Mohit Suri's Saiyaara, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda.
Interestingly, Param Sundari has already surpassed the collections of Shahid Kapoor's Deva and the re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam. However, its next box office milestone is Kajol's Maa, a film that has generated significant anticipation among audiences.
The film's collections have been decreasing since the start of the week, and unless they stabilize soon, Param Sundari may end up being overshadowed by other bigger hits of the year. The film could see a small boost during festive holidays, but tough competition from Saiyaara and upcoming releases will not make it easy.
In a stark contrast, Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi's Bhool Chuk Maaf earned Rs 89 crore worldwide, demonstrating the potential for successful films in the industry. Anurag Basu's Metro In Dino closed at Rs 62.25 crore, another testament to the appeal of well-crafted stories.
As the race for box office supremacy continues, it remains to be seen whether Param Sundari can rally and make a strong comeback. For now, the film finds itself in a challenging position, but the future is yet to be written.
