MTN Rwanda Launches Y'ello Care Initiative to Enhance Education in Rural Communities
In a significant move towards improving education in rural and remote areas, MTN Rwanda has launched the Y'ello Care initiative. The theme of the initiative is "Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow: Education for Rural and Remote Communities."
The Y'ello Care initiative includes various initiatives aimed at enhancing the learning environment for students. One such initiative is the provision of solar power to schools, ensuring a consistent and reliable power supply for educational activities. Another aspect of the initiative is the construction of kitchens to support meal programs.
On October 4, 2024, MTN Rwandacell Ltd (MTN Rwanda) inaugurated a modern kitchen at GS Bukure. This newly constructed kitchen will serve over 1,500 students, marking a significant step in the company's commitment to ensuring students can focus on their education without the worry of hunger.
The kitchen is part of MTN Rwanda's support for the 'Dusangire Lunch' program, a new initiative aimed at creating a lasting impact on students' lives. MTN Rwanda has pledged Rwf 30,000,000 towards the 'Dusangire Lunch' campaign, launched by Mobile Money Rwanda in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Umwalimu SACCO.
Chantal Kagame, Chief Executive Officer of Mobile Money Rwanda, stated that this initiative reflects MTN Rwanda's unwavering commitment to Corporate Social Investment. She encourages other organizations and individuals to join the 'Dusangire Lunch' program, emphasizing the importance of investing in a child's future.
MTN Rwanda's vision is to deliver a bold, new digital world to its customers, believing that everyone deserves the benefits of a modern, connected life. Beyond providing telecommunications services, MTN Rwanda aims to support the academic performance and physical and cognitive development of students through the provision of healthy food.
In addition to the 'Dusangire Lunch' program, MTN Rwanda offers a wide range of services to subscribers, including personalized voice and data packages for individuals and businesses. The cities in Rwanda supported by MTN Rwanda's 'Dusangire Lunch' initiative during the 2024-2025 school year are Kigali, Huye, Musanze, and Rubavu.
Mapula Bodibe, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Rwanda, stated that the Y'ello Care initiative allows them to give back to the communities they serve. MTN Rwanda aims to support the students' health, education, and future success through this initiative. The company has committed to feeding 10,000 students across Rwanda during the 2024-2025 academic year.
The 'Dusangire Lunch' program is a shared responsibility to build a stronger, more prosperous Rwanda, according to Chantal Kagame. This initiative is a testament to MTN Rwanda's dedication to ensuring a brighter future for the youth of Rwanda.
