2025 MTV Video Music Awards: A Night of Celebration and Tribute

The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, held at UBS Arena in New York, was a night of celebration and tribute to the biggest names in music. The event, hosted by LL Cool J for the second time, kicked off on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT), with a pre-show.

The main award ceremony started at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT and was broadcast on CBS, MTV, and Paramount+. The night was filled with electrifying performances and emotional tributes. One of the most notable performances was a tribute to rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, featuring performances by Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Yungblud, and Nuno Bettencourt.

In the awards category, Tyla's "Push 2 Start" won the Best Afrobeats award, while Coldplay's "All My Love" clinched the Best Rock award. Sabrina Carpenter's "Manchild" won the Best Visual Effects award, and Charli xcx's "Guess featuring Billie Eilish" won the Video for Good award.

The Best Collaboration award was shared between Lisa ft. Doja Cat & Raye for "Born Again" and Doechii for "Anxiety." The Best Group award went to BLACKPINK, and the Best Country award was won by Megan Moroney for "Am I Okay?"

Lady Gaga led the nominations with 12, followed by Bruno Mars with 11, Kendrick Lamar with 10, and ROSÉ and Sabrina Carpenter with 8 each. Lady Gaga swept the technical categories, winning Best Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, and Best Choreography for "Abracadabra."

Sabrina Carpenter also had a successful night, winning the Best Pop Artist award and the Best Album award for "Short n' Sweet." Her song "Short n' Sweet" was also nominated for the Song of the Year award, which went to ROSÉ and Bruno Mars for "APT."

The Artist of the Year award was won by Lady Gaga, and the Song of the Summer award was presented to Tate McRae for "Just Keep Watching (From F1 The Movie)." The highly anticipated Video of the Year award went to Ariana Grande for "brighter days ahead."

The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards was a night to remember, filled with memorable performances, emotional tributes, and well-deserved awards. The event showcased the best of the music industry and set the stage for the future of music.
