Multi-residential Building Fire Ignites; Neglect of Road Safety Leads to Cyclist Accident

In the heart of Gönningen, Reutlingen, a significant incident unfolded yesterday afternoon. A fire broke out in an apartment building on the main street, causing extensive damage and leaving the building uninhabitable.

Upon arrival, the roof of the building was fully ablaze. The Reutlingen fire department swiftly responded, deploying twelve vehicles and around 60 personnel to control and extinguish the fire.

The fire department's efforts were not limited to the apartment building, as a separate traffic accident occurred nearby on Konrad-Adenauer-Straße. The accident involved a cyclist and a Ford Transit. The cyclist, a 64-year-old individual, fell to the ground but was treated at the scene and initially reported no injuries.

The driver of the Ford Transit, a 22-year-old individual, apparently failed to notice the approaching cyclist. No injuries were reported initially in the traffic accident. Both vehicles, which deployed airbags, had to be towed away.

In a separate incident on Monday morning, a traffic accident occurred at the Schloßles curve in Tübingen. This accident involved a 33-year-old woman driving an Audi A3 and a 67-year-old man driving a Renault Espace. The woman failed to yield, causing a collision with the man who had the right of way.

One person from the apartment fire was taken to the hospital with suspected smoke inhalation. The current cause of the fire in the residential building in Gönningen is being investigated by the local police, with the Esslingen police department taking the lead due to their ongoing inquiries into a similar apartment fire.

The estimated damage from the fire is around 300,000 euros, while the property damage amounted to several hundred euros. The scene was cleared shortly after 10:30 AM.
