The Secretariat of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs in Berlin has announced that comparative figures with other federal states will be available at a later date. In the meantime, here are some insights into the Abitur results and university admissions in Baden-Württemberg for the year 2025.

Around 14,000 graduates from vocational gymnasiums in Baden-Württemberg attained an average grade of 2.4, maintaining the previous year's average of 2.40. However, no specific information was provided about the average Abitur grades for students from general education gymnasiums, vocational gymnasiums, or comprehensive schools in the region.

Interestingly, approximately 29,000 students from general education gymnasiums in the southwest achieved an average grade of 2.2 in the Abitur this year, consistent with the previous year's average of 2.23. Meanwhile, around 330 students from comprehensive schools in Baden-Württemberg managed an average grade of 2.4, with no significant change from the previous year's average of 2.42.

Regarding university admissions, the University of Stuttgart in Baden-Württemberg has announced that at least 50.2 percent of its study programs will remain unrestricted for first-semester students who did not achieve a top Abitur grade for the winter semester 2022/23. This decision applies to a majority of study programs across Baden-Württemberg universities for the upcoming winter semester, with approximately half of the study programs open to first-year students regardless of their Abitur grade.

The Center for Higher Education Development (CHE) in Gütersloh has analysed the study programs at Baden-Württemberg universities. The proportion of study programs with restrictions is highest in law, economics, social, and political sciences (51.6 percent), while it is lowest in language and cultural studies (23.1 percent).

Further statistics for the Abitur 2025, including the number of students who achieved a perfect score, will be published at a later date. No information was provided about the number of students who will be attending universities in Baden-Württemberg for the upcoming winter semester.

In conclusion, while some details about the Abitur results and university admissions in Baden-Württemberg for 2025 remain to be disclosed, it is clear that a significant proportion of study programs will remain accessible to students with a variety of Abitur grades. The CHE's analysis also provides insight into the distribution of restricted study programs across different disciplines. The Secretariat of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs in Berlin has assured that comparative figures with other federal states will be made available in due course.
