Mourners in Milan honor the late designer, Giorgio Armani, as they bid their farewells - Multitudes bid farewell to Giorgio Armani in Milan.
Giorgio Armani, Iconic Fashion Designer, Passes Away
Giorgio Armani, the renowned fashion designer who built a global empire in the 70s with Sergio Galeotti, passed away recently. The news was reported by AFP.
Armani was born in 1934 in Piacenza, a northern Italian city. He began his career in the fashion industry working at La Rinascente in Milan. In the 70s, he founded a fashion label that he led for 50 years, creating an empire that includes clothing, jewelry, perfumes, interior design, and luxury hotels.
Armani was known for his ability to "set women on stage" with his fashion shows, a trait that captivated film stars like Michelle Pfeiffer, George Clooney, and Leonardo DiCaprio. Pietro Angeleri, a 20-year-old fashion student, described Armani's fashion shows as "pure magic."
Silvia Albonetti, an Armani employee, described the late designer as an "incredible man" who was strict but humane.
Armani's death occurred just weeks before the 50th anniversary of his fashion label. His family and employees announced they would continue the company in his memory after his death. The headquarters of Giorgio Armani's fashion label is in Milan, where the mourning took place.
The persons committed to continuing Armani's company after his death are his nieces Silvana and Roberta, his sister Rosanna and her son Andrea Camerana, as well as his close associates Pantaleo Dell'Orco and Federico Marchetti, who are involved in the company's board to protect and continue his legacy organically and gradually.
Armani had been dealing with health issues in recent months. In mid-June, he missed the presentation of his menswear collection in Milan. He also missed the Armani Privé show in Paris in July for the first time since 2000.
Giorgio Armani's fashion label has more than 600 boutiques worldwide and over 10,000 employees. The company's operations will continue under the guidance of his family and close associates, ensuring the continuation of Armani's legacy.
The fashion world mourns the loss of a true icon, but his legacy will live on through his designs and the impact he made on the industry.
