Army Combat Training Center Celebrates 30 Years of Training Soldiers
The Army Combat Training Center (CTC) in Magdeburg, Germany, has been a cornerstone of military training for the past three decades. Since its inception, the CTC has trained over hundreds of thousands of soldiers, with the number increasing to up to 14,000 soldiers per year.
The CTC is renowned for its extensive facilities, including Schnöggersburg, a unique training town that offers a diverse backdrop for soldier training across Europe. Schnöggersburg, completed in March 2020, boasts 520 buildings, a river, bridges, 400 meters of subway tunnel, and 800 meters of sewerage.
Remarkably, no live ammunition is used at the CTC due to state-of-the-art technology. This ensures a safe and effective training environment for soldiers from various countries. In fact, the CTC trains soldiers from nations such as the Netherlands, Austria, the United Kingdom, Georgia, France, Belgium, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, and Norway.
The CTC has been recording its training numbers since 2003, with a significant milestone being the training of 240,000 soldiers since that year. Between 2003 and March 2020, alongside German soldiers, personnel from other NATO countries and partner nations were trained at the CTC in Magdeburg.
The Bundeswehr, Germany's federal armed forces, provided the information about the Army Combat Training Center and Schnöggersburg. The CTC is located in the Colbitz-Letzlinger Heath and has been operational for 30 years.
The training numbers at the Army Combat Training Center have been on the rise, reflecting the centre's growing importance in military training. This continued growth is a testament to the CTC's commitment to providing high-quality, safe, and effective training for soldiers from around the world.
