Mumbai outshines Gujarat in an exhilarating tie-breaker match in PKL 2025, with Rohit and Ajit securing the victory for U Mumba
In a nail-biting opening match of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 12, U Mumba emerged victorious against Gujarat Giants on August 30, 2025, at the Vishwanadh Sports Club in Vizag.
The match started with Ajit Chouhan opening the scoring for U Mumba, while Himanshu Singh did the same for Gujarat Giants. The teams remained closely matched throughout the first half, with Gujarat Giants maintaining their aggression in both offense and defense.
U Mumba's defensive efforts were led by Ajit Chouhan, who contributed significantly, and Lokesh Ghosliya, who registered a Super Tackle, helping U Mumba reduce the deficit to one point, with Gujarat Giants leading 16-15. Anil Mohan and Sandeep Kumar also chipped in with three raid points each, while Rohit Raghav scored the first point for U Mumba in the second half, bringing the score level.
The match ended in a tie-breaker after regulation time with a score of 29-29. In the tense tie-breaker, U Mumba secured the win with a score of 6-5, thanks to a few Super Tackles and some crucial points from their raiders. Ajit Chouhan led U Mumba's raiding unit with five raid points, and Rohit Raghav also contributed four tackle points.
Parvesh Bhainswal, the coach of U Mumba, registered his 350th tackle, helping U Mumba maintain their lead. Sunil Kumar made a timely contribution to help U Mumba secure the win.
On the other hand, Harish Kamatchi contributed on both ends for Gujarat Giants. Mohammadreza Shadloui scored his first raid point for Gujarat Giants, but it wasn't enough to secure the win for the Giants.
This victory marks a positive start for U Mumba in PKL 12, while Gujarat Giants will look to bounce back in their next match.
