The upcoming Euro Championship match between Germany and Portugal on Saturday at 14:15 CET in Riga could see either national coach Alex Mumbru or his assistant Alan Ibrahimagic taking the reins.

Mumbru was admitted to the hospital in Tampere last Monday due to an "acute abdomen," a medical emergency typically characterised by severe abdominal pain. His recovery from the stomach ailment has been ongoing, and he resumed training for the first time on Thursday. However, the exact nature of his abdominal condition remains undisclosed.

The decision on who will coach the match will be made on game day, based on Mumbru's fitness. If he is not fully fit, his assistant Ibrahimagic will take over the main responsibility. Ibrahimagic led the German team in the group stage, guiding them to five wins in five games, and is prepared for both scenarios.

The medical team will discuss Mumbru's fitness for the match on game day. Mumbru himself has expressed his intention to return to the bench for the round of 16 against Portugal. If he is cleared to coach, it will be a welcome boost for the German team.

The match will be broadcast on RTL and Magentasport, with fans eagerly awaiting the announcement of the coach. Regardless of who takes the charge, the German team will aim to secure a victory and progress further in the tournament.

In the meantime, prayers for Mumbru's speedy recovery continue, as everyone hopes to see him back on the pitch in good health. The team's morale remains high, and the players are confident that they can handle any situation that comes their way.

Stay tuned for more updates on the coach's decision and the match between Germany and Portugal.
