Museum Honorees for OnWord 2025 Event by American Writers Museum Unveiled
The American Writers Museum (AWM) is set to host its annual OnWord benefit on September 8, 2025, at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago. This event is a significant fundraiser for the museum, aiming to support its operations and expanding youth education programs.
The OnWord 2025 event will be a celebration of writers, teachers, and students, with a focus on honoring those who have made significant contributions to literature, learning, and civic engagement. Among the honorees for this year's event are David Grann, journalist and bestselling author of Killers of the Flower Moon, who will receive the Founder’s Inspiring Writer Award, and will be interviewed live by Peter Sagal, host of NPR’s Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me!. Renowned writer Brit Bennett will also be featured at the event.
Last year's OnWord event was a resounding success, raising $820,000. The funds raised are crucial, especially in light of recent cuts in federal funding for libraries and museums.
Group discounts are available for 10 or more individuals, and tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for seniors, students, and teachers. Children ages 12 and under can attend for free, and museum members are invited at no charge.
The event will also see the presentation of the John Estey Student Writing Contest Awards to 10 finalists. These include Alicia Fischi, Asmi Tyagi, Edward Lee, Lexi Lin, Samarth Agrawal, Faith Ducksworth, Aarna Desai, Ada Bartlett, Sienna Wong, and Shira Kerchner.
The American Writers Museum, located at 180 N. Michigan Ave. Chicago, IL 60601, is the first museum of its kind in the United States. It offers permanent exhibits and special galleries highlighting America's favourite works and authors, making it a must-visit for literature enthusiasts of all ages. Museum hours are Monday, Thursday-Sunday, 10 AM-5 PM. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
